Malick Sidibé was a Malian photographer who documented the social life of his country during its post-independence period. He is best known for his black and white photographs that capture the joyous spirit of youth in Mali, as well as the vibrant nightlife of Bamako. His work has been exhibited around the world and he was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2007. Sidibé's legacy lives on through his photography, which continues to inspire generations of photographers from all over Africa.
