Doc Edgerton was an American engineer and inventor who made significant contributions to the fields of photography, nuclear science, and underwater exploration. He is best known for his pioneering work in stroboscopic photography, which allowed him to capture images of fast-moving objects that were previously impossible to photograph. His inventions also included a number of devices used in underwater exploration, such as sonar and deep-sea cameras. He was awarded numerous honors throughout his career, including the National Medal of Science in 1976.
