Gertrude Käsebier (1852–1934) was an American photographer who is considered one of the most important figures in early photography. She was a leader in the Pictorialist movement, which sought to elevate photography to the level of fine art. Her work focused on portraiture and motherhood, and she was known for her use of soft focus and natural light. Käsebier's photographs were widely exhibited during her lifetime, and she is credited with helping to establish photography as a legitimate art form.
